delta single lever tub shower valve leaks water from shower head any time tub is on ..valve is new...why?

 i installed an new valve distilled water trickles from shower head even when tubspout deverter is down...i extremity some more understanding.

 you may have forgotten to put washer in or did not get the washers in accurately
